"A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people."
- Mahatma Gandhi

My arrival to this island was a bit eye opening as we spotted the military out and about, performing traffic inspections. Most tourist would panic in seeing this....Word to the wise...DON'T. The military & the police play a vital role as in any country in protecting their citizens and tourist alike.
After realizing this, I wished my own country U.S. played a more vital role in keeping crime down, but I digress.
Starting the Tour
Start off by hiring a Great Tour Guide. We hired Delano C. with Juta Tours #161. He came highly recommended from the states. Now that's quite an impression.

The next day, we meet Delano in the lobby of Luxury Bahia (reviewed on youtube) to start our journey from Runaway Bay Jamaica. Of course, we're late, but Delano assures us, "No Worries...No Problem Mon"...
My good 'sister/friend', her husband, my husband & I make the journey with Delano at the wheel..
In route, we begin to take on the sites off the beaten path of Jamaica..

We're no longer on the bliss tourist route...& It's Priceless...Beautiful!

It's real.
I'm the type of person who loves to tour the sights, not only for Tourist, but that in which many may have unheard/or unseen. I'm that type that likes to get off the beaten path...Curious T. So, indeed we do.

As we are headed up the Mountain, Delano educates us about his culture.
Bob Marley home is 9 miles from Ochos Rios. The drive takes about an hour.
No worries for the long drive as the scenery ... the culture is worth the wait.
Fascinating Fact: Bob Marley's childhood location and final resting place is 9 Mile.
Delano says, "Jamaica has a Prime Minister. You can rent a house for $300.00 a month. If you want to do business, you get a TRA. The Jamaican tax rate is is low."
We are astounded at the fact that he lives on a half acre of land and pays $120.00 USD a year. He tells us he built his home with his families help. They would all get together and put in work after work until the home was complete. It doesn't get this good in the U.S. for most families.
He further elaborates as we drive up bumpy, eroded, winding streets through one of the Mountains.
The most expensive thing is gas. The most practiced religions are Pentecostal and Catholic. "
Our ears are listening and eyes intently open & then it happens...We've arrived...

WHAT DID WE DO WHILE WE WERE IN JAMAICA?
Let me be the first to say we truly had a blast in Jamaica.
We enjoyed the pleasures of Bahia Principe Luxury Resort, as well as Bob Marley's Nine Mile & Dunn's River Waterfall, where we made it to the top honey!
